Reviews about St Clair Animal Hospital

  • A very professional annimal hospital. Took my Labradore pup there for the puppy school course and she graduated after a 4 nightly visits. Took her back after 6 months and had her desexed. Very happy with the care and treatment received.

I am so angry, upset and disappointed with the treatment I received from a female veterinarian today at the St. Clair clinic when I brought in a stray that I am compelled to write this review. The curly, auburn haired lady with an English accent spoke down to me like I was a fool and despite the fact that I was doing a service to the poor animal (who had clearly been mistreated/neglected), she was rude, condescending and completely unhelpful. I'm not sure if this is her nature but I have walked away with regret that I didn't tell her how rude she was to her face. I was forced to take the animal to the AWL despite the fact that my car was elsewhere being serviced and I was relying on my father who had just returned home after bringing my mother home from hospital and who had a cardiologist's appointment for himself within the hour. Despite explaining my predicament to her and despite her analysis that the poor animal needed treatment and was obviously ill, she absolutely refused to assist and even more maddening, offered no understanding or compassion to my situation. I was absolutely run off my feet today and was being pulled in all directions but still paused to take this poor darling animal to a safe haven when it would have been a hell of a lot easier to ignore it on the side of the road. She wasted my time examining the animal and conversing with a colleague in private before advising me that she couldn't accept the animal. She could have saved us all the time by telling me the minute I walked through that door that she would not accept the animal into the clinic as a stray but instead I had to endure her bad attitude, her crappy "people skills" and her lack of empathy all before being turned away. I understand that she works with animals because she probably prefers them over the two-legged kind (as do I) but that's no excuse for being cold and ill-mannered. What would she have done had I left the animal at the clinic and just walked away?? I have been taking all of my pets to this clinic for years (even before it was under the "Well Pets" brand) but I will now never return. To say I am livid is an understatement. Finally, when I arrived at the AWL they opened their doors to me even though they were closed over the lunch time period when I arrived, they welcomed me warmly, showed heartfelt compassion and kindness to the animal, thanked me for taking the time to bring it in and reassured me when it came to the animal's prognosis. They were amazed that this poor, unhealthy, gorgeous boy was turned away due to "protocol". Never again.
